RICHMOND, Va. — Graffiato Richmond is temporarily closed after a lunchtime fire at the West Broad Street restaurant. Richmond Fire investigators said the fire started in a pipe connected to a smoker. The smoke and flames spread from the pipe into the building’s ventilation system. It took Richmond Fire crews about 30 minutes to clear the scene.

A person who answered the phone at the restaurant Thursday afternoon said they would re-open for business Friday morning. The Richmond Fire Marshal’s Office made that call.

Graffiato opened for business last September. It is owned by Bravo’s “Top Chef” star Mike Isabella, along with Hilda Staples and Travis Croxton. The restaurant serves pizza and pasta influenced by Isabella’s New Jersey and Italian background.
