CHESTERFIELD, Va. -- The Chesterfield County Public Library has expanded services for explorers of all ages.

The new "Makerspace" at the Central Library has sewing machines, small hand tools for metal and leather work and even a 3-D printer.

Students at L.C. Bird High School are just some who have taken advantage of the space, as they have created a child-size mechanical hand using the 3-D printer.

"One of the great things about technology is well a lot of stuff is not reasonably priced for everyone to own at home," Assistant Branch Manager Ben Strohm said. "So having a place like this makes all of this available to kids"

You don't have to be a student to take advantage of the new "Makerspace." Those with the Central Library said all you need to do is to take a safety training class and have a library card.
