CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — A Chesterfield road was closed Tuesday after a Columbia Gas contractor hit a gas line.

“East River Road is closed between Dupuy Road and Loyal Avenue in Chesterfield County due to utility work in the area,” Chesterfield County’s Department of Public Affairs Assistant Director Chris Ruth said. “The road closure is expected to last until 6 p.m. Motorists are advised to avoid this area and find alternate routes.”

Customers’ gas service was not affected by the mishap, a Columbia Gas spokesman said.
