PHILADELPHIA - Delvin Barnes appeared in federal court in Philadelphia Wednesday afternoon. His case was continued until Friday and will be held on a temporary detention order there.
Barnes' court-appointed attorney, Nina Spizer, would not comment on the case, saying she was assigned the case minutes before the hearing.
Barnes was scheduled to be arraigned in a federal court in Philadelphia Wednesday afternoon on charges related to the November 2 abduction of Carlesha Freeland-Gaither. Security video showed someone grabbing Freeland-Gaither off the street and throwing her into a car.
Family members identified the man in the video as Barnes and police used GPS put in Barnes' car to track him down in Maryland.

After his arrest, investigators in Charles City County, Virginia said they had been looking for Barnes since early October. He was brought back to Virginia and charged with abduction, forcible rape, malicious wounding with a chemical and other charges related to the early October disappearance of a 16-year-old girl from Richmond. That girl managed to escape after two days with Barnes, walked two miles, naked and burned, into a business to seek help.

Barnes was transferred to Philadelphia Tuesday to face charges there on Wednesday.
"They will go forward with the stronger case first normally," CBS 6 legal expert Todd Stone said. "Here I think you've got two equally strong cases from what we know about the evidence. In the Virginia case we're talking about DNA and identification that makes a strong case. There, I understand, he made statements where he's admitting to committing the act."
Barnes arraignment is scheduled for 1 p.m.
