CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — A former Chesterfield County teacher agreed to shave his head for the next six months after he cut several inches of hair off of his former girlfriend's head. Police arrested Melvin D. Hunt, 61, in September after officers  responded to Elizabeth Davis Middle school for an assault reported in the school's parking lot.

The female victim said she met Hunt in the parking lot and got into his car. It was then he told her she did not need to travel with him on a trip they had planned.

After that decision was made, Hunt asked the woman for a hug. When she leaned in, police said Hunt grabbed her firmly and cut-off her hair.

Hunt then drove away.

Hunt, who won the Virginia middle school PE teacher of the year in 2007, admitted to the assault in court during a hearing on Friday.
