Woman who claimed her car was stolen now charged in Richmond hit-and-run, lying to police

RICHMOND, Va. -- Police charged a woman with filing a false police report and hit and run after she smashed into seven cars in the Randolph neighborhood, Richmond Police confirmed. Officers received a call about a hit and run on Jacqueline St. at approximately 1:19 am.  Witnesses said the driver hit several vehicles on both Jaqueline and Temple Streets.

After the vehicle stopped on Temple, investigators said the driver ran from the scene and then called police to report her car was stolen. After a brief investigation, dectectives found out that was not the case, and charged the woman with false reporting and hit and run.

"So yeah, happy Thursday," said a woman whose car was smashed in the wreck.

One witness said the passenger in the vehicle that caused all the commotion had his car hit too. The woman driver's name has not yet been released.
