CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- This school year Chesterfield County Public Schools voted to outsource it's custodial work to several schools in order to save over one million dollars.

The company hired to do the job is GCA Services Group. However, several concerns about the company have been expressed.

CBS 6 reporter Chelsea Rarrick was sent pictures of the field house locker room at the school taken earlier this month where trash appeared to be piling up.

Now, according to court documents, a GCA employee was arrested in September for stealing a projector belonging to Providence Middle School.

Curtis Whitted was charged and found guilty of petit larceny. He was sentenced to 12 months behind bars with 11 months suspended.

"If he can do that, you know, what else is he going to do," said one Chesterfield County parent, Jonathan Morefield.

CBS 6 reached out to Chesterfield schools regarding the arrest and background checks.

Spokesman Shawn Smith refused to go on camera but sent a statement saying "The school division respectfully refers your question to GCA."

CBS 6 contacted Russell Leboff, the Regional Vice President of Sales for GCA Services multiple times regarding the arrest. As of late Wednesday night our phone calls and emails were not answered.

In a previous interview Assistant Superintendent Andy Hawkins said GCA goes through the same background checks that Chesterfield County Schools has on it's employees.

"With the stuff that goes on these days, you can never be too cautious," said Morefield

CBS 6 also asked Leboff if Whitted was still employed at GCA. We are still waiting for a response.
