MAIMI –DADE, Fla. -- Construction crews made an unnerving discovery on a job site in Northwest Miami-Dade, Florida Tuesday morning.

That’s when an 11-foot python slithered out of a pipe while the crews were digging into the ground not far from a busy interstate on-ramp.

WSVN reports that one worker captured video of the crew wrangling the serpent.

“You got to grab it like a man,” laughed one worker recording video.

Terrence Tyler grabbed the snake by the tail while another man held the snake by the head.

“Yeah, man. They were messing with me a little bit. It’s kind of scary though,” Tyler explained.

Another worker named Raymond said he was not scared since he killed and ate similar snakes when he lived in Cuba.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue's Venom Unit was dispatched to the scene and captured the reptile.

"I'm not sure where the pipes were stored, but they were put in the truck, covered up and unloaded with a piece of equipment and set on the ground,” Captain Jeffrey Fobb said. “When they uncovered the pipes this morning, that's when they discovered the snake."

Officials think someone abandoned the possible family pet when it got too big to handle.

The snake, which was handed over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, will be checked to see if it has a chip to identify the owners.
