Don’t miss Richmond leaf pick-up in your neighborhood!

RICHMOND, Va. — Here is your advance notice that soon the city will effort leaf pick-up.

Vacuum leaf collection resumes November 10.  Signs will be posted in neighborhoods at least 48 hours in advance.

Please adhere to the signage to avoid vehicle towing and to have an indication of when to rake your leaves to the property line.  Click here or look below for the the vacuum leaf collection schedule.

Residents don’t have to use vacuum service or wait for scheduled collection begins to get rid of your leaves.  Just put bagged leaves near the curb, preferably in biodegradable lawn and leaf bags.

The city recommends biodegradable bags, and says they “more environmentally friendly and can be recycled, right along with the leaves.” The city will pick up as many as 25 bags every week all year on regular trash collection day. The city will pick up as many bags as you put near the curb during your leaf collection cycle.

Guidelines for vacuum leave collection: 

  • Rake leaves to your property line.
  • Do not rake leaves into the street.
  • Leaves must be placed out for collection by the start date
    indicated for your route.
  • Keep leaf piles less than 2 feet in height.
  • Keep leaves away from ditches, pipes, and culverts.
  • No dirt, metal, rock or branches. These items will prevent crews from collecting your piles.
