RICHMOND, Va. – Some area teens making their mark on Richmond are now on a mission to help build other teen leaders.
Lindsay Shavers, and other teens in her backpacking group, will host the RVA Outdoor Teen Leadership Challenge this Saturday.
The kids volunteer with the Blue Sky Fund and brainstormed the idea for the event during a recent backpacking trip.
“It's going to be an amazing race-style event, so there will be different challenges along the way. For example, we have backpack relay, a tent building challenge, an obstacle course challenge,” Shavers said. “And at these challenges they will be able to compete these activities while also learning information about non-profits.”
The RVA Outdoor Teen Leadership Challenge is free for all teens who want to take part this Saturday, Oct. 4 rom 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Bryan Park
