LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A missing woman was found alive inside of a trunk in Old Louisville, according to Louisville Metro police.

WAVE reportsthat Tiasha Chaplin and her friend walk by a parking lot near the corner of South 3rd Street and St. Catherine Street every day to pick their children up from school.

“We was walking past the car and we heard a thump, thump, thump and we thought it was a prank, somebody was pranking us,” said Chaplin.

Feeling alarmed at first the women kept walking, but called 911. Minutes later on their trip back through they heard the noise again. Another passerby approached the car.

“At that time I got scared. 911 still hadn’t arrived, so I ran across the street, got a brick, threw the brick through the passenger window,” one of the women said.

“One of the males said that she said she couldn’t breathe,” said Chaplin. “At that time I got scared. 911 still hadn’t arrived, so I ran across the street, got a brick, threw the brick through the passenger window.”

They were then able to pop the trunk and inside was Aundrea Stone, short of breath but alive.

“I feel like just rejoicing that she is alive,” said Carla Blevins, family friend.

What Chaplin didn’t know is Stone’s loved ones were actively looking for her. Blevins even searched the area where she was found earlier in the day.

Carl Fletcher is the pastor of Stone’s church. He says on Friday she was supposed to pick her daughter up from class, but never showed up.

“We knew that something was going because everything was out of character for her,” said Fletcher.

Flethcher says Stone was last seen at a relative’s apartment in Okolonaa. She was driving her daughter’s green Mazda, the same car she was found in.

“I just thank God she is alive,” said Fletcher.

Police credit the good Samaritans for taking matters into their own hands. It’s a reality that is still setting in for Chaplin.

“We don’t know what she’s been through,” said Chaplin. “It’s a blessing and it is odd that to me that it took for us to walk by to save her life, I’m just glad we saved her life.”

Fletcher says Stone doesn’t have any memory of what happen or who did this. They believe she was hit in the head. She suffered some head trauma and a broken elbow. She is currently at University Hospital.

Police aren’t sure how long she was in the car.
