RICHMOND, Va. -- Following Home Depot's confirmation that its servers were breached by hackers, CNET compiled a list of other companies that have been breached in the last year.

Shipping company UPS was affected by a data breach. Malware found in the company's servers put the data of customers who used 51 stores in 24 states at risk.

Next on the list -- Michael's. The arts and crafts retailer announced in April that the information of three million credit cards were exposed by two separate security breaches over a period of nine months.

Prominently, store chain Target was hacked during the 2013 holiday shopping season. That breach put at risk the information of 110 million customers. That is about one-third of all Americans.

Restaurants were not safe, either. Chinese food chain P.F. Changs was breached when hackers obtained credit and debit card information at 33 locations.

Even computer and tech companies were victims of security breaches. EBay had the personal information of customers compromised in February and March.

Hardware maker Lacie had its database breached. The information of customers who shopped with the company from March 2013 to March 2014 was at risk.

If you think you've had your information compromised in one of these or any security breach, security experts recommend checking online activity logs and changing your password.
