CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — Police asked for help finding a missing woman in Chesterfield County, and a day later she was found safe.

On Wednesday, Audrey B. Brown, 57, was last seen August 21 in Chester, and reported missing on August 26.

Brown, who lives on Winterbourne Drive, was found in James City County. She was unharmed.

When asked why there was a 14-day gap between when Brown was reported missing and police released information about her disappearance, a spokeswoman for Chesterfield Police said detectives were initially pursuing other investigative avenues.

Police have not released any additional information about the circumstances surrounding Brown’s disappearance.
