GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. — The lighting storm that lit up the sky over Central Virginia Tuesday night also appears to have sparked a house fire in the Rivergate subdivision in eastern Goochland County. While the Goochland Fire Marshal’s Office continues to investigate the cause of the fire, Henrico County Fire spokesman Captain Danny Rosenbaum indicated a lightning strike appeared to be the cause.

Henrico Fire crews were called to the home along the 13000 block of Apdon Court near the Goochland-Henrico line at about 11:35 p.m. to help fight the fire.

No injuries have been reported in association with this fire. Fire investigators have not said whether anyone was home when the fire started. The Goochland Fire Department has not yet said how much damage the home sustained.

The fire-damaged home is a five bedroom, six bathroom, 7,500-square foot house, according to Zillow. The house was purchased in 2006 for $1.7 million. It is located in Rivergate, “a private, gated, lake community with a prestigious address on River Road.”
