RICHMOND, Va. — A man accused of violently stabbing two women in a Richmond apartment complex rental office in December has been sentenced to life in prison.

Benjamin P. Dancy, age 50, pleaded guilty to charges of second-degree murder, malicious wounding, and two charges of robbery. He was sentenced to two life sentences plus 60 years in prison.

Police say he killed 44-year-old Della Scott in a violent attack at the rental office at Chamberlayne Gardens apartment complex in December 2013. One other woman was also stabbed.

The two women worked at the rental office and were robbed. Witnesses saw a bloodied victim screaming and running from the office in the attack.

Richmond Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Learned Barry said the murder was one of the most brutal he had ever seen.

Dancy had charges dating back to 1982, including attempted robbery, burglary, drug possession and malicious wounding.
