CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — An accident at the Cracker Barrel off Hull Street Road in Midlothian could keep the restaurant closed for a few days, a restaurant manager and Dominion Virginia Power workers on scene said.

A food delivery truck hit the restaurant at about 5:48 a.m. Thursday, they said. The impact damaged a boiler room in the back of the restaurant.

The crash damaged the restaurant’s water softener system.

Dominion Virginia Power had to cut off electricity to the restaurant until an insurance adjuster could come out and assess the damage.

No power means no refrigeration for the $20,000 worth of food that had just been unloaded.

Food stored in the restaurant’s freezer is also in jeopardy.

This is a developing story.
