A 33-year-old woman mocked about her stretch marks posted a response on Facebook – and her story has gone viral.

Tanis Jex-Blake was attempting to sunbathe while her children played at Alberta Beach in Edmonton, Canada on Tuesday.

“All of a sudden I heard, ‘oh my god, look at that, that’s f****ng nasty, that’s disgusting, look how gross that is,’” she told GlobalNews.

When she opened her eyes, she observed two men and a woman standing over her, pointing at her and pretending to kick her.

The woman attempted to ignore them, but couldn’t’ hold back the tears while driving home later that day.

That’s when she shared her story on Facebook:

“This is an open letter to the 2 guys and 1 girl who decided to skip work today in Sherwood Park where they were building a house, but instead decided to come to Alberta Beach to relax in the sun, enjoy the water and some beers. I’m sorry if my first attempt at sun tanning in a bikini in public in 13 years “grossed you out”. I’m sorry that my stomach isn’t flat and tight. I’m sorry that my belly is covered in stretch marks. I’m NOT sorry that my body has housed, grown, protected, birthed and nurtured FIVE fabulous, healthy, intelligent and wonderful human beings. I’m sorry if my 33 year old, 125 lb body offended you so much that you felt that pointing, laughing, and pretending to kick me. But I’ll have you know that as I looked at your ‘perfect’ young bodies, I could only think to myself “what great and amazing feat has YOUR body done?”. I’ll also have you know that I held my head high, unflinching as you mocked me, pretending that what you said and did had no effect on me; but I cried in the car on the drive home. Thanks for ruining my day. It’s people like you who make this world an ugly hateful place. I can’t help but feel sorry for the women who will one day bear your children and become “gross” in your eyes as their bodies change during the miraculous process of pregnancy. I can only hope that one day you’ll realize that my battle scars are something to be proud of, not ashamed of.”

A radio station in Edmonton shared the photo, which has been viewed by more than 12 million people and has received over 750,000 likes and 55,000 comments. Many people have also shared photos of their stretch marks in support of Jex-Blake.

Good for her. The kids reacted without thinking as most kids do, still they it needs to be pointed out that they did something wrong. They are just lucky that we do not have their names. I suspect that they would be in some trouble at this point now.

The way the post reads those hurling insults were not kids they were young adults. This wasn’t a typical kid “reaction” nor a typical adult reaction. Their words and actions were delivered with full intent to insult and hurt this lady’s feelings.

Good for her to speak her mind! So many people have just totally lost their morals (if they even had any). I also have kids and have stretch marks from them as well. It happens people! What do you expect your stomach to do when the baby (or babies in our case) are growing inside?! Although Tannis won’t see my comment, I have to say that I am sure you are a beautiful person so don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. People are just shallow and inconsiderate jerks.

Good lord, the bullies in this world. Lady you ROCK those stretch marks! I can only hope I have half as much class as you do! Those are beautiful reminders of your precious children and how much you care for them! You are a rock star!

I feel sorry for who ever marry your ass. You are a pig.
A very rude and disgusting guy. Or your just a Troll either way do us all a favor and shut the hell up with your negative comments no one wants to see them!

Yea! Erica you and I are on the same page, Timmy has no life and he loves to stir the pot, he is a dirt bag, who is very insecure about who he is, he hates women because he himself has no self – esteem, he more than likely has never had a real women and wouldn’t know what to do with one if he did!

Generally, men let themselves go after they get married. They sit around, drink beer, watch football and ignore their wives. They know they don’t have to try to romance her anymore because they are married.

After my wife had my daughter i think she looks better than she did befor just knowing she gave birth to my beautiful daughter..any man who can say a women is ugly or nasty just because of the effects of childbirth is no man at all.

    • annadenniston

Kyle you are a respectable guy and yes a REAL MAN! We need more men like you sticking up for real woman like us who have stretchmarks on our body because of childbirth.

  • Rita

Timmy mcfadden you are a disgrace to the human race! We don’t let ourselves go just because…we let ourselves go because other stuff like raising our children, and soccer practice, cheerleading, school events, blanket forts, kissing boos boos, kisses, hugs and cuddles are more important than caked up make up and appearance! And if you don’t think so then you’re pretty shallow!

I kinda like my stretch marks. They look like ‘tiger stripes’. Yeah there are some male haters commenting, but I bet you money they are single :) im healthy and happy, including my flaws.

  • kyle

there really no sense in this timmt fella even commenting. if you dont have anything nice to say dont say it at all.. and a womens flaws is what makes them intersting.

    • athynz

Timmay has issues with women in general – at some point he was married and his now ex-wife saw the scumbag under whatever veneer he was using and rightfully left his sorry butt. Now because he is unable to fool another woman or satisfy any woman he is a bitter, bitter sociopath.

  • Carol

Why in 2014 are we SO concerned & worried about responding to others !!!??? Women have been having babies & stretch marks forever & a day what is the big deal. I’ll be glad when social media disappears, one of the dumbest things EVER created !!!!!!

  • Morning Dew

Kitty, I think you might be on to something. No doubt, the troubles Timmy has with women started with Mom. and Timmy, you may dislike overweight women, but your attitude is disliked by just about everyone.

  • justmy opinion

Sounds to me like Timmy doesn’t even deserve your comments because he has yet to discover that 125 lbs can hardly be considered fat and stretch marks don’t always equal a person being fat. There are lots of petite women with stretch marks for a multitude of reasons. Timmy hates fat and stretch marks so much that he came to read an article specifically about that. Comical…

Definitely believe that which you stated. Your favorite reason appeared to
be on the internet the easiest thing to be aware of.
I say to you, I certainly get irked while people consider worries
that they plainly don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as
well as defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people can take a signal.
Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
