RICHMOND, Va. – More than 450 customers were without power in metro-Richmond Friday morning, according to Dominion Virginia Power’s online outage summary. A majority of those outages were in downtown Richmond where more than 470 outages were reported.

The traffic lights were out along the 200 block of Byrd Street and Dominion crews were spotted working the area.

Officials said the power was knocked out at 6:23 a.m. However, all but 15 customers had their power restored by 9:30 a.m.

Most of the outages impacted businesses as opposed to residential customers. Those affected included the historic Tredegar Iron Works and the Virginia War Memorial.

Dominion is investigating what caused the outage, but officials said it appears to be an underground issue and was not weather related.
