ATLANTA, Ga. -- A South Carolina man was reunited with his dog in Atlanta Wednesday after his car was stolen – with the dog inside – as he passing through the city.

With help from complete strangers, Michael Buckley posted flyers around Washington Park, where his car was found after it was stolen with his dog Tazzie inside.

On the flyer was a phone number that a Good Samaritan gave him to use as a sort of "Tazzie hotline."

Buckley said he was just about to give up and go home, when his phone rang.

"I picked it up and it was this lady calling me up told me. 'I think I've seen your dog,'" Buckley said.

Melissa Robinson, who had taken the dog in after finding him roaming the streets the day after he was stolen, happened upon a flyer when she came home from work.

“He was like, ‘Oh my God, it's her.’ Yeah, he just kept hugging me...,” Robinson laughed.

Michael and Tazzie are back together again and he can continue his journey to Colorado, where he was moving to when he ran into trouble in Atlanta.

But before he goes he wants everyone to know the three kids that stole his dog and car, should not give this city a black eye.

“Yeah, there was the negativity of the fact that this happened in Atlanta, but you know it just goes to show you how many people around here and in this community came sort of to my aid and tried to help me find this dog and it was just great,” Buckley said.

He expressed his gratitude to everyone -- from the volunteers who helped him post flyers, to the hotel staff where he stayed, to the stranger who drove him around the city helping him get his car back and search for Tazzie.

“I'm so grateful that everything ended up like this and I’m actually back with her. Because I’m going to be honest with you, I didn't think that I was gonna have her back,” Buckley said.
