Chesterfield road reopens after crash knocked out power to thousands

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. - An overnight car crash knocked out power to 5,000 Dominion Virginia Power customers in Chesterfield County.

A car ran into a power pole along Salem Church Road near Route 288 about midnight Tuesday morning. Salem Church Road reopened about 7 a.m.

Dominion Virginia Power crews worked overnight to restore power to the Hollymeade neighborhood. Less than 200 homes remained without power by sunrise Tuesday.

The driver who hit the power pole suffered minor injuries. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
