CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Friends and family are gathered around a memorial Saturday for the 23-year-old woman who died in a bizarre accident in Chesterfield.

amber hernandezPolice responded to a home in the 8000 block of Sussex Place, off Newbys Bridge Road near Walmsley Boulevard in Chesterfield, around 8 a.m. Friday to investigate the death of a woman who was found trapped under her vehicle at her residence.

Investigators say Amber Hernandez tried stopping the car from rolling down the hill when she was run over. The car has a manual transmission and its parking brake was not applied.

Hernandez worked at the Hull Street Buffalo Wild Wings for a year and had recently just landed a job in the medical field. Friends say Hernandez was also planning to start a family with her husband.

Chesterfield Police say what happened on Sussex Place appears to be a tragic accident. One man who identified himself as the victim's husband at the scene said it was too difficult to talk about, but that he is mourning her loss.

Friends and former co-workers are trying to focus on remembering the better days.

"For the first while, it took a minute to sink in, and it was such devastation," said Dani Falter. "It's just a horrible thing the moment that everything was literally looking awesome... a terrible tragedy strikes."

Friends have started a campaign to raise money to help Hernandez's family with funeral expenses. If you'd like you help, you can visit their GoFundMepage.
