POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. -- Powhatan County deputies are searching for a man they say just walked into homes in broad daylight to steal prescription meds and money in Powhatan.

Officials said the crimes happened four times between Sunday and Monday and in all but one case, people were home when investigators said the male suspect just opened their doors and barged in looking for money and drugs to steal.

Three cases happened Sunday between 10 and 11 a.m. in the 2200 and 2300 blocks of Anderson Highway.

Additionally, one other case happened Monday around 6 a.m. in the Chestnut Oaks subdivision.

The sheriff's department said that in some instances adults saw the man walk in. However, in one case the adults were asleep and a child saw the suspect enter their home. In another case, no one was there.

But in all four instances residents had left the doors unlocked in the morning and the suspect simply walked in.

The suspect is described as a while male in his 20s around six feet tall. He was last seen driving a white Ford Explorer or a similar type of vehicle.
