DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. – A suspect is in custody following a standoff in Dinwiddie County Sunday evening.

Sheriff D.T. Adams said deputies were called to a home in the 13000 block of Browns Road for a domestic situation following a report of a man with a gun and shots fired around 5:20 p.m.

When law enforcement arrived, Adams said the suspect subject had barricaded himself inside the residence and a standoff  ensued.

CBS 6 viewer Debbie Riggins said she noticed six or seven police cars outside the home around 6:20 p.m. She said eventually deputies stormed the house.

Riggins also spotted a sniper hidden in the woods near the back of the property.

Deputies said that the suspect, 39-year-old Scot Kelley, was later taken into custody without incident.

Kelley was charged with two counts of brandishing firearm and one count of reckless handling firearm.

Kelley is being held without bond at the Meherrin Regional Jail.
