NORFOLK, Va. -- Police have been busy this holiday weekend in Norfolk, where they are investigating four different crime scenes after 14 people were shot overnight.

The first call came before midnight and officers responded to the scene on Thurgood Street, where they say three adults and two juveniles, ages 14 and 15, were standing outside, shot by an unknown suspect.

Police responded to three other calls for shooting victims on Virginia Beach Blvd., Bagnell Rd. and 36th St.

Police say all of the victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Norfolk Police Chief Michael Goldsmith made a statement about the overnight violence.

“I have more than 740 police officers working hard every day to keep 245,000 people safe. We need the assistance of our citizens to combat the gun violence that is affecting our streets and harming our youth.”

There is no further information on suspects or motives involved in any of the shootings.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents should contact the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
