RICHMOND, Va. -- Police have released the name of a homicide victim found dead inside a South Richmond home Sunday afternoon.

Death Investigation CollageRichmond police were called to a home near the intersection of Rosemont Road and Woodstock Avenue around 2:30 p.m. for a suspicious death. This after police said a relative found the man dead inside the residence.

Officers said Monday that 46-year-old Terry A. Mullins, of the 500 block of Rosemont Road, was found dead inside the home. Officials said the medical examiner’s office is working to determine the cause of death.

Police released this example of the victim's missing pickup truck.

Detectives are searching for the victim’s gold, 2007 Toyota Tacoma SR5 two-wheel drive pickup truck with an extended cab. The vehicle has a temporary license plate with “13316X” tags.

Richmond Police Chief Ray Terasovic joined detectives in a canvass of the neighborhood while they waited for a warrant to search the home as the department pleaded to to the public for help Sunday.

"We are trying to figure out who was inside and exactly the cause and manner of death and we are asking anyone with information with this death to please call us,” Richmond police's Dionne Waugh said.

"I never witnessed a murder in my neighborhood before,” 11-year-old Diego Medrano said. "I really wonder what happened."

Diego and his mother are like so many residents of Rosemont Road who wonder what went wrong.

This homicide could be Richmond’s 23rd murder of 2014 and the 15th on the Southside. CBS 6 News asked Mayor Dwight Jones this week what's being done to combat crime.

"We are working hard with the police department to make sure when we do have a homicide we find who the perpetrators are,” Jones said. “But actually crime is down so we celebrate the fact we are doing a good job."

Detectives do not believe the crime was random and said they are working several leads.

If you have information that could help police,  call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
