DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. – A man drowned early Sunday morning after a boat capsized in Dinwiddie County’s Old Hickory community.

Officials told CBS 6 senior reporter Wayne Covil that crews were called around 3:15 a.m. to a private pond just off Barnes Road.

That’s where three people were finishing when the boat they were on capsized.

Two people managed to swim to shore, but the body of the third person, who was described as a Hispanic male in his 40s, was recovered around 1 p.m.

The victim’s body sent to medical examiner’s office for positive ID and to determine cause of death.

Officials are still working to notify the victim’s next of kin.
