RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond Fire & EMS crews rescued a woman stranded on the rocks in the James River Sunday afternoon.

Richmond Fire spokesman  Lt. Robbie Hagaman said crews received reports of a woman being swept down the river near Belle Island  around 2:45 p.m.

The woman was able to climb on top of a rock and water rescue crews said they were able to get her off the rock and onto their boat quickly, without any injuries.

While they were coming back to shore, fire crews said they spotted a paddle raft out on the water that had gotten washed out.

Crews helped the people on the raft as well but no one was hurt.

Fire crews told CBS 6 that the James is a little above five feet right now, so you must wear a life jacket if you're going into the water.
