RICHMOND, Va. – The fire burning at the Midlothian Village Apartments, along the 400 block of Midlothian Turnpike in South Richmond, was marked under control about 11:30 a.m., according to the Richmond Fire Department.

When crews arrived at the complex about 10:45 a.m., they saw heavy smoke coming from the back bedroom of a third floor apartment, Richmond Fire Lt. Christopher Armstrong said. No one was home when the fire started, he said.

One adult and two children are displaced because of the fire.

Investigators are on the scene looking for a cause.
