HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – Maybeury Elementary in Henrico’s West End will dismiss students early, at 9:30 a.m., after the school lost power Thursday morning during a heavy storm that raced across Central Virginia.
“We have been told that the electricity cannot be restored until later this afternoon,” Henrico Schools spokesman Andy Jenks informed parents via phone message. “Again, students will be dismissed from school at 9:30 this morning. Buses will be available for students who normally ride the bus home.”
Thursday’s 5th grade ceremony was moved to Friday.
Early morning storms resulted in a messy start to the Thursday morning commute.
