Special Olympics Virginia Summer Games

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR):

The Summer Games is the largest State-Level competition offered by Special Olympics Virginia and you can be a part of it.  Volunteers to cheer the more than 1500 Athletes competing Saturday, June 7th at The University of Richmond.  All you have to do is sign up to cheer the athletes at http://www.volunteer2cheer.com.

The festivities start Friday, June 6th at 10:30am with the Law Enforcement Torch Run Capitol Leg Ceremony at the State Capitol, Officers will complete the run carrying the Flame of Hope into the Opening Ceremony at the Robins Center.  Competitions start early Saturday at 8:30am at UR and various venues that include the Glen Allen Softball Complex, Bowl America Short Pump, J.R. Tucker High School and the Collegiate Aquatics Center and athletes will compete in track & field, softball, swimming, bowling, powerlifting, wheelchair athletics and tennis. Healthy Athletes starts at 10am in the Robins Center.
