WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WTVR) – One man was injured Saturday evening when a hang glider crashed into the James River in James City County.
According to Sgt. Michelle Anaya, Virginia State Police spokesperson, around 8:30 p.m. Saturday a 2- person hang glider, with engine crashed after the pilot slowed the aircraft below its minimum safe speed, causing it to stall.
The passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.
The hang glider was recovered out of the river by the James City County Fire and Rescue dive team.
An investigation is pending a consult with the Commonwealth Attorneys Office.
