WASHINGTON (CNN) –UPDATE: The lockdown Tuesday at the White House has been lifted, according to journalists inside.

Security officials locked down the White House on Tuesday due to a situation at a street entrance to the complex, according to CNN journalists inside.

No further details were immediately available.

Due to tight security at the home of the President, even minor breaches can cause a lockdown to occur.

The driver of a vehicle that followed a motorcade onto White House grounds late Tuesday afternoon was stopped by uniformed officers and taken into custody, a U.S. Secret Service spokesperson said.
