According to their Facebook page, the colder than normal fall and winter seasons kept plants from reaching their normal size. Next, the bad storm that hit April 25 – with high winds and hail – set the crops back, in addition to damaging many farm buildings.
“We have agonized over this situation for the past two weeks and after many conversations we have determined the volume of strawberries that we have is just not enough to do pick your own the way it should be done and still supply our Farm Market in Brandermill Market Square with pre-picked strawberries,” the farm wrote on their Facebook page.
“We just don't feel right about inviting customers out for pick your own strawberries with the crop not plentiful enough to have a good experience.”
The farm noted that any “Strawberry Season” tickets that were handed out in their store can be used for the 2014 Pumpkin Season.
