Trial date set for teen accused of killing VUU student-athlete over sneakers
RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — A trial date has been set for the 18-year-old charged with killing Virginia Union University student Kahron Lee over a pair of sneakers.
Police said 18-year old Willie Lee shot and killed Kahron Lee on the night of Feb. 23.
Police said the two are not related.
Investigators said the suspect confronted Kahron Lee, who was walking back to his off-campus apartment after leaving a study group, and tried to steal his sneakers. When Lee resisted he was shot and killed.
US Marshals arrested Lee in March on unrelated charges.
Lee’s trial is scheduled to begin on July 28.
