Concern grows over ‘troubled’ teen runaway

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – It has been 10 days since anyone has seen 15-year-old Shybera Sydnor. She is a foster child who has a history of running away from foster homes, according to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.

“She has never been gone for this long and we are now seriously concerned for her safety and welfare,” Brunswick County Sheriff Brian K. Roberts said in a statement.

Shybera Sydnor - runaway 15 yr. oldSydnor has long, black hair with brown highlights. She was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, pink flowered shirt, black pants and gray sneakers with pink shoelaces, according to the sheriff’s office.

She was last seen April 19, walking away from a home on Thomasburg Lane in Freeman, Va. Investigators have followed up on leads in Greensville County and Emporia.

“We have received information that she may be headed for New York, where she has a sibling also in foster care,” Sheriff Roberts said. “We are asking anyone who might recognize Shybera or have any information on her whereabouts to please contact us. She is not in trouble with the law. We just want to make sure she is not in danger or has been harmed in any way.”
