PETERSBURG, Va. (WTVR) – Police are investigating after someone went around a neighborhood and punctured the tires of more than 40 vehicles, according to Petersburg Police. The vandalism happened in the Kenilworth area in western Petersburg, police said.
At least 46 vehicles were damaged according to police with most vehicles having one or two damaged tires.
The vandalism was first reported to police about 6 a.m. Monday.
According to Police, the serial slashing spree happened between 11 p.m. Sunday Night and 1 a.m. Monday morning.
“We are looking at this as all related from the same incident with many victims,” Esther Hyatt, a spokesman with the Police Department, said.
Police appear to have a particular interest in talking over the case with younger members of the community – asking students to come forward with information.
“We want people to understand just because you are in school does not mean you can’t get a crime solvers reward,” Hyatt emphasized.
