HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Henrico County is seeking volunteer workers for a reenactment of the Battle of New Market Heights, a fight significant for the role played by African-American soldiers serving in the U.S. Colored Troops.

They are looking for at least 50 volunteers for the reenactment, which is set for Sept. 26 to 28 at the Runnymeade property near the Malvern Hill site of the Richmond National Battlefield Park. The park is located at 8750 Willis Church Road.

Officials are anticipating up to 1,500 volunteers and 10,000 spectators for the event. There will be three battle reenactments on Saturday and Sunday, and there will be several live musical performances and popular food and merchandise from the period.

The reenactment will mark the 150th anniversary of the battle.
