WASHINGTON D.C. (WTVR) — A baby squirrel fell 75 feet from a tree and is recuperating — with an oversized cast — at D.C.’s City Wildlife.

The squirrel was brought to the group after the fall from her nest on to the concrete sidewalk below.

She suffered a bloody nose, a broken tooth, and a broken ankle, City Wildlife said.

“Luckily, just like children, this squirrel is young enough that her ankle should heal very quickly,” the group said on their Facebook page. “Send her your well wishes on a speedy recovery!”

The group was founded in D.C. in 2008 to rehabilitate and release urban wild animals. The group operates a Wildlife Rehabilitation Center — the first in D.C. — and provides public educational programming and advocacy for wild animals.
