HOPEWELL, Va. (WTVR) -- Police are investigating after one person was hurt in a shooting that happened Wednesday afternoon at the Petrol station in Hopewell.

Officials tells CBS 6 News that at least two shots were fired and that another bullet shattered a window at the Walgreen's across the street from the gas station.

In surveillance video given to CBS 6 by a Petrol station employee, you can see a man walk across the parking lot of the Petrol station. Seconds later, another man runs toward him and appears to fire multiple shots at the victim and then quickly runs away.

A gas station employee tells CBS 6's Chelsea Rarrick off camera that he heard multiple gun shots ring out.

"I noticed the tape and about six patrol cars," said Steve Blizzard, who was in the area at the time.

The shattered glass and crime scene tape across the street at the Walgreen's also caught the attention of those nearby.

"It could have hit a car, it could have hit a pedestrian walking by and we go back to the Redbox, it could have struck someone there," said Blizzard.

Police said no one at the Walgreen's was injured, but the victim's arm was gazed by a bullet.

Law enforcement sources said the suspect called the victim by name and then took off running toward the Piper Square housing community nearby.

Police are still searching for the suspect.

The suspect is described as a younger, light skinned black male with an afro-style haircut pulled back, wearing a black hat and a black hoodie.

Anyone with information is asked to call Hopewell Police or the Hopewell/Prince George Crime Solvers at 541-2202.
