UPDATE: Car crashes in Richmond, police find man shot dead inside

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – A man shot in his car crashed and died on Patrick Avenue, near East Laburnum Ave., in Richmond Tuesday night. The victim has been identified as D’Shaun A. Bethea, 31, of the 3500 block of Patrick Avenue.

Richmond Police were alerted to the shooting about 11:53 p.m. When they arrived, detectives found Bethea, shot, sitting inside a vehicle–police tell CBS 6 by way of email.

“When they arrived, they found an adult black male in his early 30s who had been shot inside a vehicle. He died at the scene,” Richmond Police spokeswoman Dionne Waugh said. “Detectives believe the victim was shot inside a vehicle that then traveled a few blocks, striking a parked car before coming to rest.”

Investigators say they do not believe the shooting was a random act.

Police have not yet released a description of the suspects.

“Detectives are collecting evidence and canvassing the area for information,” Waugh said. “Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000 or text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip.”

RPD will list it as a traffic accident fatality, so it won’t count as a homicide…don’t want the city to look unsafe.

oh, because something happens once a week versus 2-3 times a week, it’s excusable? Read again for what? What excuse do you have for the child getting shot by a white person? Nice try.

Ask Mr. Utash of Detroit how he feels about it. That is if he comes out of the coma he is in and lives.

That was 60 years ago. Get over it. And stop wearing saggy pants and having babies you can’t afford to feed.

white people wear baggy jeans as well and i see white boys sagging their skinny jeans on their skateboards…..there are also white people who can’t afford to feed their kids. there are also white people on welfare. oh, you think more black people are on welfare/poverty stricken. Take a history class. you will learn why its easier for white people who have ancestors that had over 400 years of free labor to make a living (wealth handed down) versus black people who ancestors were forbid to be educated and enslaved or treated unfairly (still happens) today.
