STAFFORD, Va. (WTVR) — A six-month-old girl who was killed when her rural Stafford home burned to the ground last week will be laid to rest Tuesday.
The graveside service for Eleanor Mae Avery will be held at Quantico National Cemetery at 18424 Joplin Rorad in Triangle at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
“We welcome those who would like to attend, and ask that you meet at the building inside the main gate of the cemetery a little early so we can drive together to the grave site,” stated a post on the Avery Family Fire Relief Facebook page.
A memorial service for Eleanor was held on Sunday.
“From the gorgeous flowers, lovely video, and framed photos, to the tender and inspiring words spoken and sung by Eleanor’s loved ones and Bishop, it was truly a celebration of a beautiful life. We were overwhelmed by the number of people who joined with us to remember and honor Eleanor, and we thank you for your love and support through notes, cards, service, and donations of all kinds,” the family wrote on Facebook.
Family members said the fire began outside on the porch, and was noticed by Eleanor’s mom, Naomi. While Naomi Avery was able to get two of her children out of the house, she was unable to go back inside to save young Eleanor.
The Stafford Fire Department described where the fire broke out as one of the most rural parts in the County.
