SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - It's been nearly a month since Kelly Wood's life drastically changed.

"I never thought something like this would happen," said Wood.

A man robbed a Fas Mart in Spotyslvania County around 3:30 a.m. when Kelly was working the overnight shift. The man shot her twice in the head before getting away with items from the store.

Police are still searching for the subject, but Kelly has continued to move forward in her life and the community has come together to show their support.

On Saturday, a fundraiser was held for Wood. Hundreds came out and over $8,000 were raised.

"It's amazing," said Wood. "I didn't know what to think, I was shaking hands that I had never met before."

Kelly said she is continuing on the road to recovery and stays positive each and every day.

"I'm still living my life," she said. "I still have my head on my shoulders and even though there's bad out there, I want to get over it and not have to worry anymore."
