Plot thickens as third arrest made in murder of Richmond woman

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — A third person has been charged in connection with the murder of Samantha Myers, 20, who was found on March 24, in a ravine.

On Wednesday the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Jamarr Rodney Hursey, 25, of the 2400 block of Brady St.

Hursey has been charged with Conspiracy to Commit Murder.

Two other individuals, Yvette L. Hairston, 40, and her daughter, Selena Y. Hairston, 21 –both of the 1300 block of Evert Avenue where Myers also lived –have already been charged with murder in the case.

Sources confirmed that Hursey is Selena’s boyfriend.

On Monday, March 24,  Myers' body was discovered by a passerby in a ravine along the 3700 block of North Hopkins Road. She was positively identified a few days later.

Police said that her body had been there for awhile. Photographs of Myers' tattoos were released as police searched for information in the case.

The motive appears to be an argument between the pair that turned violent, police said. Myers' body was first placed into a closet.

The medical examiner's office confirmed that Myers was killed as a a result of blunt forced trauma to the head in the manner of homicide.

Police sources told CBS 6 that investigators found evidence that Yvette Hairston went online and and searched "how to clean up blood."

They also said she  went to a Wal-mart to buy tools needed to dispose of a body.

The Department would like to thank the community for providing valuable tips which helped detectives identify the victim and make these arrests.
