RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Richmond Sheriff’s Deputies did not have to take Randolph George Cokes, Jr. far after they found heroin and cocaine hidden in his clothes. The 48-year-old Richmond man was already in jail after police arrested him for carrying marijuana.

“Upon his commitment to the jail, deputies performing a routine search discovered what appeared to be additional drugs, concealed in the lining of his clothing,” Richmond Sheriff’s Major Jerry L. Baldwin said. “A field test was done of the substances, which tested positive for heroin and cocaine.”

Cokes was then charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drugs by a prisoner.

“Mr. Cokes has been in and out of Richmond City Jail for years on drug-related charges,” Richmond Sheriff C.T. Woody, Jr. said in a statement. “It is my hope that maybe this time, he will seek out some help from a counselor, or volunteer to participate in one of our recovery programs.”
