RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Garth Callaghan writes a note on the napkin he packs in his daughter’s school lunch each day. The Glen Allen father maintains a blog on which he writes about the napkin notes and updates friends, family and complete strangers about his cancer battle.

“As a father, Garth has developed a passion for writing Napkin Notes,” the website details. “He spends his early mornings finding the perfect quote to include in his daughter’s lunch. Whether the quote is used to support a quiz, a big game, or just to show his love, his pen and napkin are always ready to convey the daily message.”

Recently Callaghan was moved to tears by Bounty, the company that sells paper towels and napkins. The people at Bounty offered to partner with Callaghan on a social media campaign.

For every napkin note tweeted using the hash tag #Napkins4Emma, the company would donate $1 to the Callaghan family.

“There were two things that moved my heart during our first conversation,” Callaghan wrote. “The first was Bounty wanted to donate money to Emma’s college fund. I started tearing up when that was first mentioned. Secondly, they knew that I didn’t use Bounty napkins and they didn’t care. The campaign wasn’t about my product choice, it was solely focused on families, mealtime together, and being close to people.”

Bounty’s campaign ends Monday, March 31.
