Man barricades himself in Gilpin Court home after stabbing

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- Richmond Police have resolved a barricade situation that put two people in the hospital including the suspect.

Officers responded to the 400 block of West Charity Street in the Gilpin Court housing community around 7:15 Saturday night for a domestic assault call.

We're told when officers arrived they found an adult female suffering from a stab would.

She was then transported to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say they believed the man responsible was inside a home in the area.

Officers set up a perimeter and after multiple attempts to contact the suspect the SWAT team made entry.

The adult male suspect was found inside a home suffering from self-inflicted wounds.

He was also taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

We're told during the investigation several roads in and around the housing complex were closed.
