(CNN) — Vice President Joe Biden doesn’t give up easily.

He told Rachael Ray on Thursday that he asked his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, to marry him five times before she finally said yes.

“I asked Jill to marry me five times. Literally, five times,” he said in an interview set to air Monday.

“The fifth time, I said to her, ‘Jill, my Irish pride has gotten a hold of me. This is the last time I’m gonna ask you,’ I said, ‘You don’t have to tell me when you will marry me, just if you’ll marry me.’ She said, ‘yes.'”

Biden later added: “Everybody knows I love Jill more than she loves me.”

“It’s important to keep romancing her and chasing her. I think that’s the reason why it’s lasted as long as it has. I’m still crazy about her,” he said.

Asked about his famously smooth skin, Biden said he uses Clinique moisturizer for men (with SPF 20, of course), at the behest of his wife.

The interview will air in full on March 31, the last day Americans can sign up for healthcare before the fast-approaching open enrollment deadline.

Biden continued the administration’s intense outreach effort, making a last-minute pitch for Americans to get covered.

“Let me say something to any young person listening. If you don’t need this for your piece of mind… Do it for mom!” he said.

The White House announced Thursday that more than 6 million people have signed up for healthcare through the Affordable Care Act.

Biden, who ran for president in 1988 and 2008, is considering a third bid for the White House in 2016. If he runs and wins, Biden would be 73 years old when taking office in January 2017.
