Ruptured gas line prompts downtown building evacuations

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – A ruptured gas line has forced the evacuation of buildings along the 700 block of E. Franklin Street in downtown Richmond, according to Richmond Fire spokesman Lt. Robbie Hagaman. Traffic detours are going up around the area.

The gas leak has been stopped, however the incident has not been marked under control.

Capitol Police and Richmond DPU workers are checking the buildings for air quality.
