SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) — Spotsylvania police released new digitally enhanced photos Thursday and revealed a $10,000 reward is being offered in hopes of finding the man who shot a store clerk during a robbery earlier this month.

Police were called to the  responded to a call at the Fas Mart located on the 11600 block of Brock Road around 3:20 a.m on Saturday, March 8.

Police said the suspect entered the store and was pretending to purchase something. When the clerk turned away, the suspect shot the clerk in the head twice and fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash and a countertop display, containing ephedrine-based products.

“This whole incident happened 90 seconds or less,” Captain Jeffery Pearce of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s office said. “She was not resisting.  There was no adversarial conversation between them or anything.  He fully walked in there and intended to shoot her.”

The 32-year-old female victim was transported to Mary Washington Hospital E.R. and upon arrival transferred by air ambulance to VCU Medical Center Trauma unit.

The operators of the Fas Mart convenience store offered up $5,000 for the reward fund. Additional private donations brought that total to $10,000.

New Suspect Information

The suspect is described as a white male approximately  25-30 years old, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, between 160-170 pounds with a reddish brown beard or goatee.  The beard also had white or gray highlights. The beard hangs down approximately two inches below the chin and he was wearing a black “hoody” type sweat shirt with Khaki style pants.

The suspect, who was wearing black gloves, asked the victim for a tin of a  Grizzly smokeless tobacco and placed a bottle of orange colored drink on the counter.

Sheriff’s deputies previously said they think the incident was random due to the location of the store, which is close to a busy intersection off of Route 3.
