RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Richmond fire crews marked a house fire on Weaver Court, near Midlothian Turnpike, under control around 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Richmond firefighters were initially told two people were trapped in the burning home, however Richmond Fire. Lt. Robbie Hagaman later confirmed everyone made it out of the burning house.

"Not that we're not already stepping our game up, but it does add a sense of urgency because you want to get there.  Time is just instrumental," said Lt. Hagaman.

Witnesses said flames were jumping from the roof of the home and heavy smoke filled the small cul-de-sac of about a dozen homes.

"I've never seen a fire that bad," said Geraldine Moy, who lives down the street.

The home owner was on scene.  Family members tell CBS 6 reporter Jake Burns she is emotional distraught.  The American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist her family.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.  Investigators said their initial examination found no evidence of foul play.

This is a developing story.
